Sophisticated living concept
Year constructed: 2009

Finding a new way to house 24 mentally impaired residents was the challenge in designing this project. In terms of content, the home’s organisational structure with four flats and common rooms is intended to promote a more family-like relationship among the residents and facilitate their integration into society. The individual flats offer the residents both a place to retreat into their private room and a connection to their flatmates in an uncluttered family setting of only six residents. The sheltered outdoor areas allow protected contact with the outside world and with nature. The deliberate structure of the open floor plan creates an optimal starting position for flexible use or later building conversion.
