Villa Conversion, Lake Zurich

In a picturesque community on Lake Zurich, the historic church tower has dominated the village landscape for centuries. Next door are the parish house and schoolhouse, and directly in front of them stands the former winegrower's house, once surrounded by vineyards. A few years ago, an excavation pit was opened here, surrounded by a patchwork of half-finished, never-inhabited new buildings. It was decided to revitalise this place: to convert the abandoned vineyard house and to put the unused area in front of it to careful, moderate residential use.
The result is a residential complex that today presents itself as a true hidden gem. On the one hand, there is the elegantly converted and modestly renovated historic main house with state-of-the-art living comfort and a spacious garden with a pool and arbour. On the other hand, there are three new apartments, gently and discreetly nestled in the sloping garden in front, each designed as a separate townhouse. They are connected to the main house via an underground car park. A curved natural stone wall follows the course of the road, protecting the complex and at the same time shaping the new face of the village centre.
